The elusive obvious in developing PCW skills
Covid 19 meant a total rethink about running trainings and sparked a series of insights. The main one was to move trainings into an online format. This has resulted in some unexpected surprises. Firstly trainings have become more international and secondly it has become clear that regular ongoing training input is far more effective than one off live trainings. Don’t get me wrong, I still love live trainings and will continue to run them on a selective basis, but running a 3 day live training and then a follow up 300+ days later has definite limitations.
The creation of specialists in PCW
The one year PCW certification training starts in September and the plan is to create practitioner and advanced practitioner certifications. This training is for people who really want to develop and apply the PCW model in their work and/or in their own personal development. Inevitably this will be for a more defined group and not for the casual enquirer!
The one year training includes a series of 1 – 1 opportunities with myself and all group and 1 – 1 sessions are recorded to watch back. The individual allocation means that everyone involved receives the very best value in both time and money. I suspect that increasingly this will be the most practical way forward for people to get the maximum opportunity to develop their skills.
Specialisations in PCW
Each person can decide what they most want to focus on and some of the subjects I’d like to see as PCW specialisations are sports, business, specific therapy and coaching applications for specific client issues, developing creative skills, working with relationships, dealing with addictions and compulsions, food disorders among others. This way of working is in my view a much more productive strategy to bring PCW to a wider public and to ensure that the quality of training is at the highest level.
Inevitably by maintaining a higher quality level, we limit the number of people involved as we are not just rubber stamping certificates and avoid the whole status issues that have really been problematic for some fields. Ultimately this is all about real education and application and that occurs best through collaboration, refinement and discussion.
Q and A
In forthcoming weeks I welcome individual enquires at not charge for people to ask about the one year training. Its important that this is affordable for people in both time and money. This is an exciting time for PCW and I’m mindful that the next stage in 2024/2025 is to develop PCW trainers, so there are more people who can teach the model while retaining the quality.
