The next phase of PCW evolution

The focus continues to be on skills development

We are fast approaching the 20th year of developing the Provocative Change Works model. When COVID-19 appeared, I moved a lot of trainings online, and we started the first of many one-year PCW trainings. These have been very well received and have been an excellent medium to refine and develop skills. Each development training is unique and showcases the latest developments in the model. This is very different to my experience with NLP and other courses, where there was often no development of the material and certainly no 1 – 1 learning opportunities with the trainer.

Different mediums for learning

The PCW development training is scheduled over a year, with group meetings for 4.5 hours each month. We also have a Q&A session with me for attendees. I’m also going to be running stand-alone specialist PCW trainings, which will be by invitation and by application. I also have a limited number of students who schedule 1 – 1 time. I’m increasingly stretched for time, so these slots are in limited supply! In 2025, I’ll present at a major European conference in person and will be back in Japan for my 23rd live training with an advanced group of medics.

The refinement of the model and the key to skills integration

The challenge in teaching the PCW model is giving people enough structure to know how to use the model, BUT making sure they don’t get stuck into simply following logical digital sequences, common in many approaches. This requires a lot more paying attention, and most people don’t have the stamina needed to invest the time and energy into this level of skills refinement.

In 2025/2026, I’ll be upgrading the stances used in PCW. The key is to incorporate and to use these stances conversationally, without the formal, predictable sequences in many approaches. There’s a tremendous amount of time needed to plan and develop an infrastructure to deal with the increasing interest in the model. There’s already a 400% increase in group trainings in 2025, compared to 2024, and this looks to increase to 700% if all goes to plan with two full 40-hour trainings planned for the end of 2025.

PCW 4.0

I’ve quietly been developing PCW 4.0 with the Japanese group. This is totally different to everything to date in PCW and can only be taught in a live physical space.

Final thoughts (for now)

The main challenge is time management and ensuring we maintain high quality standards. This will reduce the number of people who become certified as practitioners, advanced practitioners and trainers, but this strategy makes for developing a much more substantial and credible model that can be used to help people. We’ll also be setting up the association of PCW, upgrading the archive and showcasing many new surprises in the next 12 months!
