Provocative Change Works trainings online for Europe, USA and Asia

We just concluded the first one year Provocative Change Works online training which has been a massive success with attendees from literally all over the globe. My UK host Pete Dalton did a brilliant job in organizing these monthly events and its been a terrific supportive group. We thought carefully about the format for these slots and decided on a five hour format running from 10 – 3pm UK time, with breaks.

I’m mindful that an online experience is very different to a full live experience, so its important to ensure that these sessions are interactive on a group and 1 – 1 basis. Over the year, we would include a series of 1 – 1 demos, group exercises and discussions, looking at real client cases, exploring in detail the core elements of the PCW model, watch and deconstruct video sessions and learn how to work in an improvised and spontaneous manner.

The value of ongoing CPD with Provocative Change Works

This first one year training really highlighted the value of ongoing CPD. Much as I love live trainings, I can only be in one place at any one time, so there are inevitably big gaps in between events. With the monthly events, there’s an ongoing series of interactions and its become clear that this really helps develop skills. Of course, it inevitably means that those attending are the ones most interested in learning as it requires more time commitment. Special thanks to Joe Kao who also ran monthly practice sessions as an extra for the group and I’m really impressed in how everyone did. There was also the option to watch back these slots on video to further improve skills and all attendees have homework tasks, making this a fully interactive experience.

The next online PCW training – “Problem solving”

Starting in October, we’ll be running a 3 month training specifically on problem solving.

The training is for anyone who has an interest in problem solving on any level in business, coaching, therapy, or personal change. This is about finding “the difference that makes the difference.”

  • We will be looking at real life client examples and how to best work only with the information received and then work to best help the client.
  • Attendees can also be clients themselves and I can then explain how I use the initial client notes to frame the session and why I do what I do
  • Attendees also can submit problem clients from their own practices or business problems for consideration

This training is not just confined to coaching and therapeutic issues, it’s also for business and groups where we look at strategic thinking and how to create new and lasting change in the most time effective creative manner. Prior to creating the PCW model, I worked in business for 15 years and set up and ran a number of multi million pound concerns where I had to use the best strategic thinking strategies to maintain business success in the marketplace. The same problem solving strategies occur in PCW and this training will encourage all those attending to bring real life problems to the monthly sessions so you get the best possible value form the training.

What is included –

  • How best to work conversationally to assist with effective client change
  • The importance of psychoeducation in working with individuals and groups
  • Identifying the ingredients that make the problem “the problem.”
  • Exploring how specific PCW stances provoke micro adjustments to allow new ways of thinking
  • Deconstructing client sessions and identifying how to work in the here and now in an improvised manner
  • Homework assignments and CPD to support the online group work.

The 2022 PCW online training for skills development

Starting in January 2022, I’ll be running a new monthly themed training online. We’ll be looking in detail at specific client problems each month with real life scenarios. I’m keen with all these trainings to make them as practical and as real as possible and avoid a lot of the theory that is often promoted in personal change and therapeutic workshops. As Frank Farrelly used to say “Show me the evidence!” and I’ll increasingly be talking about real life client sessions and giving insights into how best to use the PCW model.

We have already in the 2021 one year training looked at transcripts of live session work and the plan is to do more of this is 2022. Of course this level of study is not for everybody, but the idea for these trainings is to continue to build a group of PCW practitioners who will grow and develop the model.

Special thanks to all those who have attended and supported these online trainings that will continue alongside live trainings across the globe.
