"One of the great secrets in provoking shifts in client behaviours is to
ensure that all interactions are about what is happening in this exact
moment. This approach was inspired by working with Frank Farrelly and was
used extensively during the 'Provocative Change Works for Phobias' DVD
sessions. In fact Frank (who narrates the DVD) actively comments of the
value of working in the "here and now" This approach means working very
quickly with clients interrupting their old ways of thinking and feeling.
The practitioner gets into an appropriately receptive state where they are
relaxed enough to fully focused on the client's responses; while at the same
time resisting any temptation to anticipate what they imagine could, might
or should occur during the session."
