In Provocative Change Works I combine Ericksonian hypnotic patterns with elements of Provocative
Therapy. I have found this combination of tools to produce the fastest, most successful and
lasting results when working with clients. I use this powerful approach in both my private
practice and in corporate settings.

What is Provocative Change Works™?
Provocative Change Works™ draws both inspiration and strategies from the work of Frank
Farrelly and Milton Erickson among others to create a powerful set of tools for accelerated
change. Provocative Change Works can therefore be "described" in terms of Provocative Therapy
and Hypnosis, but is different to these specific individual disciplines.
I have found this combination of tools to produce the fastest, most successful and lasting results
when working with clients. I used the Provocative Change Works™ approach in 2006 when appearing
on BBC Radio for a 6 month series of live one hour programmes where I cured phobics live on the air
using these tools.
I also use this approach in my private practice and the approach is demonstrated extensively on
the "Provocative Change Works™ for Phobias" DVD set, which shows me working with long standing
phobics producing some really excellent results.
Frank Farrelly provides narration and commentary on these DVDs and I can think of
no higher compliment that the one he gave to me when recently talking to one of his
European promoters when he commented -
you'll find his work on phobias using PT mixed with NLP and hypnosis
quite a blend and Enlightening!!

Those who have trained in Provocative Therapy will know that the therapist will start
the session with the question "What's the problem?" In Provocative Change Works™ I may
use this approach during the session, but not always at the start of the session. Provocative
Therapy also does not formally use sub modality work as found in NLP to change client states,
but the Provocative Change Works™ uses this set of tools either formally as or in conversation
by using sensory rich language to change the client's state. A practitioner will deliberately move
the client's attention from "the problem" using a number of different strategies and approaches,
challenging the client's perception of "the problem" This process can often involve chaining a
series of states and associations, and in many instances the client can report feeling light
headed or disoriented (previous orientation towards the problem, is now shifted!)
Provocative Change Works™ uses the "right here, right now" philosophy that Frank Farrelly
uses in Provocative Therapy so everything that occurs in the session is about what is happening
in each exact moment. This requires the practitioner to have an exquisite awareness of language
structure, an ability to get into a neutral receptive state and a sharp mind so they can communicate
in a number of different ways both verbally and non verbally. The practitioner may frequently interrupt
the client and/or ignore the client's request to go down a particular route in the session. In short
all the communications employed are designed to challenge the existing patterns and deliberately not
offer specific advice for the situation!
I run trainings in the UK in Provocative Change Works™ as well as Provocative Therapy
trainings and am the founder of The Association for Provocative Therapy. People who have trained
with me in Provocative Change Works™ can ask about the stipulations for use of the official
Provocative Change Works™ logo to display on their web sites and promotional materials.
